COVID-19: An Update from Anchor's Rest

We are living in the strangest, most unsettling time, but it is one that will be marked in the history books forever. At Anchor’s Rest, we believe in pulling together and doing what is right for everyone, for the greater good.

To this end, we know many of you have had to face the disappointment of cancelling your travel plans, or postponing your holidays. While we are sad to not be seeing so many of our favourite faces in the coming weeks, we know it is simply a postponement and not a farewell.

That said, Anchor’s Rest remains open for business, and if you are, however, still able to travel, we are ready to welcome you. Rest assured that we are taking extreme precautions to ensure the safety of our guests and staff at Anchor’s Rest. If you are staying with at Anchor’s Rest during this time, please note:

The South African Response

We have been deeply impressed and inspired by our national response to COVID-19. Directed by the NICD and our National Department of Health, our national response towards curbing the spread of COVID-19 has been proactive, and focused on flattening the curve, by encouraging social distancing, and ramping up prevention campaigns, while enabling improved access to testing facilities.  The South African Department of Health, in conjunction with the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), has a clear and decisive plan to manage these cases in the South African environment, through emergency response mechanisms, case finding, contact tracing, pathology testing and isolation readiness.

Your Personal Health And Hygiene

We recommend you adhere to the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines, in terms of preventing the transmission of COVID-19:

Whether you’re at home or traveling, the WHO recommends practicing good hygiene to protect yourself against infection — by washing your hands frequently with soap or alcohol-based sanitiser, maintaining distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing, and avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth. If you become sick, please seek medical attention.

From all of us at Anchor’s Rest, we wish you clarity of mind as we negotiate this virus at a global level, and we hope every person, family, and business, affected by this, will recover quickly.

Please do get in touch with us on enquiries@anchorsrest.co.za if you have any queries, related to a booking or any of our facilities at Anchor’s Rest.
